Park Wise campaign encourages citizens to lock their vehicles (WZTV).
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Metro Police are encouraging drivers to Park Wise. The campaign strongly urges citizens to lock their automobile doors, secure any valuables and Liquidate THE KEYS.
Reports demonstrate: already in 2017, about six hundred motor vehicle theft cases have been reported.
That’s about a third of last year`s total of cars stolen.
MNPD says, «a review of stolen vehicle reports in Nashville from Sunday, March 12th, through Saturday, March 18th, shows that 92.5% of the automobiles taken (62 of 67) were effortless targets because the keys were left inwards or made available to thieves. Sean Weaver`s car is one of those.»
The Nashville resident says, «it`s a lesson learned» despite playing it clever and getting a rail home form a local bar. The next day, the car parked outside
Weaver says, «Someone had busted the window out and I did have my keys hidden under the driver’s seat and my car was recovered two days later on Spring street and Dickerson Pike.»
Some things are tighter to substitute than the window.
«One box in particular was something that I moved from storage earlier that day and it did contain every single welcoming card, every single picture that I had that my mom who died back in two thousand twelve gave me. Unluckily, it’s not in the car anymore. I’ve been looking for it, driving around, no avail so hopefully they didn’t throw it away and hopefully it may turn up,» explained Weaver.
Weaver says originally a medium, cardboard box held the plastic container with the cards and photos. The thieves left some of their own belongings behind, and skipped over the proprietor`s pricey items like , Prada sunglasses and a Coach bag.
«I was indeed astonished ,» Weaver adds.
Priceless in sentimental value, Weaver is now suggesting prize.
«Up to a $1,000 just to get those possessions back, because they’re undoubtedly worth it, if not more. I do hope to at least recover something from that box. Mistakes happen and. One thing I’ve learned in life is that very seldom is it too late to do the right thing. She was such a strong lady and just to have those possessions back would mean a lot just to be able to have that part of my mom still with me. .”
