As the Supreme Court proclaimed no sale or registration of BSIII vehicles from April 1, two thousand seventeen dealerships may entail a loss due to the BSIII inventory. That said, the four-wheeler passenger vehicle segment was already ready for the outcome and most cars sold in India were already compliant with BSIV emission norms. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza: Maruti Suzuki launched Vitara Brezza in two thousand sixteen and has made its mark in compact SUV segment against its competitors like the Ford EcoSport. It is powered by the 1.Trio litre DDiS turbocharged diesel engine that generates eighty nine hp of power and two hundred Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission and there is no automatic transmission option presently available. The car has a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.Trio kmpl and gets driver side airbags as standard while Six pack (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) is suggested in LDi(O), VDi (O), ZDi, Zdi+ variants.

2017 Honda City: Honda Cars India launched a faceliftted version of the City sedan in February 2017. Since its introduction the car has received 14,000 bookings, out of which forty percent of the vehicles booked are the top-end ZX version. It is available in a total of five variants with two engine options, a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. The top-end trim is available with a number of first-in-segment features such as LED headlamps with LED DRLs or Daytime Running Lamps and LED tail lamps.

Ford EcoSport: The Ford EcoSport is a compact SUV which is powered by a 1.Five litre diesel engine, 1.Five litre petrol engine and 1.0 litre booster jet engine. The engine also obeys BS4 emission norms and mated to 5-speed transmission for the larger capacity petrol motor and the diesel engine. The 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engine has a 6-speed manual transmission. In addition to the manual gearboxes, the Ford EcoSport 1.5l petrol is also available with an automatic transmission. In its Platinum Edition version, the compact SUV now gets a touchscreen infotainment system and some cosmetic switches.

Renault Kwid: After the launch of the Renault Kwid, most potential buyers were attracted towards it due to its design language as well as features like a touchscreen infotainment system which isn’t presently available in its competition. It is suggested with two petrol engine, a eight hundred cc unit and a 1.0 litre motor. While the smaller capacity engine is available only with a five speed manual transmission, the 1.0 litre mill is also available with an AMT or Automated Manual Transmission.

Hyundai Creta: Hyundai launched Creta in two thousand fifteen and since then, it has been the highest selling SUV in India till date. In January 2017, the company sold 7,913 units of the Creta which is way ahead of its competitors. The Creta is powered by a 1.6 litre petrol, a 1.Four litre diesel and a 1.6 litre diesel engine which are available with a 6-speed manual as well as automatic transmissions. The lower capacity diesel engine is available only with a six speed manual gearbox tho’. Now the Creta SX+ variant is also available in dual-tone exterior that comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system now also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Tata Tiago: Tata Motors launched Tiago in two thousand sixteen which was powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine and a 1.05 litre Revotorq diesel unit. The engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and is based on the India carmaker’s Influence Design Language. Higher versions of the hatchback feature Six pack (Anti-lock Braking System), dual front airbags, and an audio system sourced from Harman which has four speakers and two tweeters.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Another car in list is the Dzire, the sub-4 meter sedan is powered by a 1.Two litre K-Series petrol engine with Variable Valve Timing and a 1.Three litre DDiS diesel engine. Along with a 5-speed manual transmission, both engines also come with automatic gearboxes. The petrol engine gets a 4-speed torque converter unit while the diesel engine is suggested with a 5-speed AMT or Automated Manual Transmission. Higher variants get Six pack (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and dual front airbags for enhanced safety.
