Volvo Cars to go all electrified by the year 2019; to launch five fresh electrified vehicles

Volvo cars, the Swedish automaker has now announced that after the year 2019. every car to come out of its stable beginning from the year 2019, will be tooled with an electrified motor. The automaker said that this budge will mark the end of cars produced by it which are only tooled with an internal combustion engine with electrification being at the center for Volvo’s future strategy. The announcement for sure represents one of the most significant moves by any car maker in embracing electrification and highlights how over a century after the invention of the internal combustion engine electrification is surely paving the way for a fresh chapter in automotive history. “This is about the customer,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive. “People increasingly request electrified cars and we want to react to our customers’ current and future needs. You can now pick and choose whichever electrified Volvo you wish.”

Going by this strategy, Volvo Cars is going to introduce a fresh portfolio of electrified cars distributed across its model range which is to include fully electrical cars, plug-in Hybrids and Mild-Hybrids. The automaker plans to launch five fully electrical cars in-between the year two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty one three of which will be Volvo models and two of which will be high spectacle electrified cars from Polestar, Volvo Cars’ spectacle car arm. These five cars will be supplemented by a range of petrol and diesel cork in hybrid and mild hybrid forty eight volt options on all models, signifying one of the broadest electrified car offerings of any car maker. This means that there will in future be no Volvo cars without an electrified motor, as unspoiled ICE cars are little by little phased out and substituted by ICE cars that are enhanced with electrified options.

“This announcement marks the end of the solely combustion engine-powered car,” said Mr Samuelsson. “Volvo Cars has stated that it plans to have sold a total of 1m electrified cars by 2025. When we said it we meant it. This is how we are going to do it.”

The announcement underlines Volvo Cars’ commitment to minimising its environmental influence and making the cities of the future cleaner. Volvo Cars is focused on reducing the carbon emissions of both its products as well as its operations. It aims to have climate neutral manufacturing operations by 2025.
